Hawaiian Style Pregnancy Massage
At Port Macquarie Massage we practice the traditional Hawaiian Kahuna or Lomi Lomi pregnancy massage. This massage is one that assists in relaxing those tight tense muscles,
and also helps the mother to start the bonding process. It is a very gentle and caring form of massage.
In years gone by, and still today, Hawaiian families would each have their own version of the massage. The mother-to-be would receive massage during her pregnancy so that she felt totally supported and loved. Then after the baby was born, the family would take the baby to the warm tidal pool, and massage the baby to welcome the new born into the family.
We have nurtured many mothers through their pregnancy now, and many mums have returned to us with their baby, so that the process could complete with the baby being massaged as well.
We lay the mother-to-be on her side for comfort,
with lots of pillows for support. This massage helps to relieve stress, and discomfort, helps you to feel supported through your pregnancy,
as well as help you to start your bonding with your baby. You only need to undress to the level that you are comfortable with, and we can work through clothing, with no oil if you prefer.
Please remember it is best not to have massage during the first trimester, and if you have experienced problems with other pregnancies, check with your Dr prior to booking.
There are certain points on the body that stimulate labour, so only have massage with a professional masseur who is aware of these trigger points.
