KAHUNA MASSAGE

Kahuna Massage also known as Lomi Lomi
When we think of Hawaii, various images come to mind. The smiling faces, beautiful beaches, amazing landscapes. The heady frangrance of frangipani, the colourful hibiscus flower, the smell of coconut oil, the sound of waves on a beach edged by an ancient volcano.

Traditional Kahuna Massage begins with a prayer. Kahuna is known as the spiritual massage because of this. Traditionally the Kahuna (Hawaiian Elder or Keeper of the secrets) was the only one to practice the massage. Over time, it was passed down to individual families to practice. This healing massage has been handed down through Hawaiian families for generations and is deeply healing and nurturing. Kahuna Massage can be given by a single practitioner or the more traditional way of male and female practitioners working together.

The Hawaiian people view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the "whole self". Kahuna Massage is said to assist the person to reconnect areas of the body that were once disconnected. To connect with spirituality, the body, and emotions. Some people say at times they feel as though the ocean were cradling them, or that they felt as light as air during the massage.

"Your hands reveal your heart, you must forgive and love one another.
This is the loving touch." Aunty Margaret a Hawaiian Elder speaking of Hawaiian Massage.
